The Access to Art Academy WINTER I JAZZ Workshop 2010 is a FIVE-week professional development workshop providing performing arts professionals and pre-professionals the knowledge management and performance skills necessary to build and sustain their careers. FEATURED GUEST ARTIST: Camille A. Brown November 17 & 19 SAT October 16, 2010 from 1:00-3:00PM Duane Cyrus teaches Contemporary Dance Workshop in RICHMOND, VA Class Fee: $10. This master class is part of the RE-GENERATE: Bringing New Voices to New Audiences project. The RE-GENERATE performance will be held on October 15-16, 2010 at 8PM at the Grace Street Theater on the VCU Monroe Park Campus in Richmond. Proceeds from this master class help to ensure the continued growth and vitality of all programs surrounding this project – which includes the development of future outreach programs and educational series for dancers. SEPTEMBER 11 thru OCTOBER 16, 2010 Cyrus Art Production Presents ACCESS TO ART ACADEMY FALL WORKSHOP 2010 The Access to Art Academy Fall 2010 Workshop is a FIVE-week professional development workshop providing performing arts professionals and pre-professionals the knowledge management and performance skills necessary to build and sustain their careers.
Activities Include: Regular Technique classes; Professional Development seminars with area experts and special invited guests; Repertory Rehearsal to learn choreography by Duane Cyrus. Performance Opportunity!! As part of the professional experience, participants will have the chance to audition for a panel of judges to be selected to perform as extras in Cyrus Art Production’s Fall Season Concert at UNCG. October 21-23 immediately following this workshop. (NOTE: Performance is not guaranteed and based on audition results)

Artistic Director Duane Cyrus will premiere a new work, Middle Passage Part I: Traveler, a performance work inspired by the poems of Louis Mustafa Audrey. This season’s special guest artists include: Germaul Barnes—Bessie Award winner and former member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company will be joining the company for the second season after last year’s thrilling presentation of Half Full Manifest Destiny. Christian Von Howard—international performer, teacher, choreographer will be presenting Played OUT-a movement satire that speaks to the plight of social identity among African American men in today’s culture. Juel D. Lane—former member of Ronald K. Brown/Evidence Dance Company will return this season with a dance for the camera debut titled ...just another day. MON-FRI JUNE 14 thru JULY 2, 2010 The Access to Art Academy Summer Workshop is a three-week workshop that will include an advanced company class followed by repertory rehearsals with Cyrus Art Production's artistic director Duane Cyrus. Participants will have the opportunity to advance their professional skills by working in a focused dance rehearsal environment.
This workshop is being offered FREE OF CHARGE to a limited number of participants. Pre-professional experience and technical ability in ballet, jazz, and at least one modern/contemporary technique are required for dance artists ages 16 thru adult. Dancers interested in auditioning for Cyrus Art Production's future projects should attend this workshop!
